Each summer Slumber Falls
Camp employees a number of college age workers to assist
with the summer camp program. The program is called
SALT, which is an acronym for Summer Adult Leadership
Team. This program started many years ago as a way to
provide leadership development for young adults and also
support the needs of the Outdoor Ministry program.
These SALT workers serve in a program
support role doing a variety of tasks from staffing our
camp store, lifeguarding, assisting camp directors,
helping with arts/crafts, making and serving snacks,
staffing our health center, and in some cases serve as
counselors when volunteers are in short supply.
Over the years, those who have been part
of the SALT program have gone on to provide significant
leadership to the church and community. A number have
gone on to seminary and now serve the church as ordained
ministers. One person shared how her experience in the
Health Center moved her to decide on a medical career.
She is currently enrolled at Harvard Medical School.
